Happy New Year to all!
Something to think about. Are you paying for a new truck but you don't have one? It's a reasonable question to ask yourself. Many dealers / distributors are in the position of owning their truck but repair expenses on a yearly basis equal that of making a new truck payment. The difference is you are'nt driving a new truck. Making repairs on any truck is inevitable , in fact repairs on vehicles is what drives the mobile tool business. When the annual repairs begin to near or exceed the average monthly truck payment it may be time to make a move. Think about what the down time costs? What the repair cost? What's the cost to your morale? How are you viewed by your customers when you can't make the weekly stop? All these questions may factor in to the decision to upgrade your truck.
Image is everything. In the town I live in there's a K Mart that was built in the 60's and less than a 1/4 mile away is a recent Target. If my wife is going to buy something for our home, which store do you think she would choose 9 out of 10 times? I bet you guessed Target and you would be correct. But why? Is it the brightly lit, well organized, shopper friendly design as opposed to the outdated , unkept, dark K Mart? You bet it is. Companies spend millions researching what makes people buy products. What are you driving a Target or a K Mart? Do your customers think of you as Target or K Mart? Would a truck upgrade put you into the Target category? Something to think about.
